Recognition Board

Recognition Board

At The UCL Academy, we believe it is important to recognise the dedication that our students put into improving their talent and the time they give up to practice and represent the school in competitive fixtures. We do this through our tiered honoured system.

Certificate – The first recognition level, earned once a student has represented the school in a competitive fixture in one sport. Students can earn multiple certificates by representing the Academy in various sports.
Badge – The next recognition level, earned once a student has represented the school in 3 competitive fixtures in the same sport. Students can earn multiple badges by representing the Academy in various sports. Students wear their badges on their blazers in recognition of their achievement.
Colours – The highest-level award available to all students, earned after a student has represented the Academy in 3 competitive fixtures across 2 different sports. This reward is a UCL Academy Nike jacket that students may wear as part of the PE uniform.

At the end of the school year, we host our annual Sports Presentation Evening. This is a special evening that brings together all students, staff, and families to celebrate the success, commitment, and dedication students have demonstrated over the last year. During the night, we award our most prestigious honours.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) – This award is given to one male and one female student in Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 in Football and Basketball. This award is nominated by both students and staff, and recognises the student who embodies the Academy’s attributes both on and off the pitch.

Rookie of the year  – This award is for Foundation students only and recognises one student who has made the most significant impact on the Sports department. It is awarded to someone who has demonstrated exceptional talent in one sport or to an individual who has been committed across several different sports. This award is nominated by staff.

Team of the year – This award is given to one team, of any gender, level or sport, who have made the most significant achievement in the year. This could be in recognition of success, e.g., winning a competition, or of the team that trains the best and collectively demonstrates the Academy’s attributes. This award is nominated by staff.

Sports Personality of the Year – This is the most prestigious award of them all and is the highest honour a single student can achieve. This award recognises the student who consistently goes above and beyond to improve their own and others’ sporting performance, who attends all training sessions, seizes every opportunity and consistently represents the Academy’s attributes.

Yr10 Psychology students enjoyed a day at London zoo, taking part in a workshop on Animal Learning & Intelligence, exploring the difference between innate & learned behaviours & how conditioning influences animal behaviour. Bringing #Psychology to life beyond the classroom. 🐧🕷️
