The UCL Academy GCSE Results Show
Success for all Students

The doors opened early this morning and the entrance to The UCL Academy filled with the mix of nerves, hope and anticipation that only results day brings. Building on last year’s success, and following the outstanding A Level results celebrated here last week, our Year 11 students have delivered a set of GCSE results they can be extremely proud of. Almost a quarter of all grades awarded were at the very highest levels of 9 to 7 and more students than last year secured a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths enabling them to progress to exciting and ambitious next steps. Crucially, outcomes for disadvantaged students continue to improve. Alongside this, boys and girls achieved equally well, demonstrating the impact of a rigorous academic curriculum alongside outstanding pastoral support.

We are especially proud this year of the improved outcomes of students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). Staff at the academy pride themselves on knowing our students and have high expectations for the success of all students by providing expert support. In addition, the performance of students with English as an Additional Language continues to be a strength of the school, demonstrating the impact of the specialist teaching and support this group of students receives at the academy.

Andrea Pomphrey, Principal, said:

“Results day is always a highlight of the year. Seeing the joy, aspiration and success of our students gives staff, students and families a sense of shared pride. Year on year our results improve, and I am grateful to our staff for the dedication they show in supporting our students. The success stories are in grades but also in resilience, determination and the sense of belonging fostered in all. I am excited that so many students are staying for A levels at UCL and look forward to the year ahead with them”.
